Hey y’all!

The puppies will be a week old tomorrow! ALREADY! They are having daily weight gains which we are super happy about. Their Mama Winnie is doing an amazing job caring for them. She keeps the whelping box spotless and the puppies are never too far away from her. Winnie is a cuddler so she balls up while they nurse and they are just surrounded by her warm body and love. It’s so special and sweet.

We have received a few applications for this litter and taken a few FaceTimes calls so that people can “meet” the puppies and see them in their newborn environment. We are always happy to chat with you about our program and if you’re interested in a puppy please reach out. Our reservation fee is $250 and we accept Venmo or Cashapp; you can also pay through gooddog using a credit card. The reservation fee holds your spot in line for puppy picks which we do at six weeks.

At six weeks we evaluate each puppy for things like confidence level, temperament, touch tolerance, energy levels etc. At that time we discuss with you which puppy might be the best fit for your family! We love this method because it gives you more information than just looking at that cute curly or fluffy baby and saying THIS is the one for me. The reason that can set up a puppy for failure is for many reasons. If you are working away from home for eight hours per day we wouldn’t want to pair you with a puppy that cannot stand to be in a room without a human. In the same respect if you have little children we want to make sure you bring home a pup who has a high touch tolerance. If your family is active we don’t want to necessarily send home the biggest couch potato in the litter!

We love for you to watch our daily content online and get a feel for the puppies and their personalities and then at the six week mark we put all the information we’ve gathered along with your input together and you’ve got yourself a fabulous new family member two weeks later! That’s the BEST part!

We are happy to answer any questions you have regarding our puppy selection process. Have a great day! Xoxo

Curly vs Wavy Coats

We wanted to take a little space on our blog to educate you on doodles and misconceptions that come along with the wavy vs curly battle. Our current available litter is a multigenerational Goldendoodle. Our Mama Winnie was born here and is a second generation Goldendoodle. She has a beautiful wavy coat that requires weekly brushing but she does not ever shed.

Most people think that the generation of their doodle and the coat their pup will have are linked. Many people are looking for F1’s because they want a wavy look or F1b because they want curly coats. The truth is we have owned and been breeding doodles enough to help guide you to the coat you’re wanting regardless of the generation. We have dogs from the same litters who share the same parents yet have completely different coat types.

Technology is so advanced we can produce wavy or curly coats in multigens and they still remain non or less shedding than your average dog. Scientists have discovered the gene for shedding is not curl – it’s actually based on coat length and furnishings. We focus on pairs that will produce those genetics.

Our task is to pair you to the litter or pup that will produce the coat you are looking for. We are here to share our knowledge and help to match you to a lifelong floofy companion – please know that we are happy to answer any questions you have regarding our dogs and puppies! Xoxo

Multigenerational Goldendoodles Are Here!

We are so happy to announce our beautiful Winnie x Swayze litter of Multigenerational Goldendoodles. Winnie was born here at Pasatiempo Ranch to our foundation dogs Calliope Jane and Alfie. This pairing has been years in the making and we are BEYOND thrilled with these precious little floofs that are sure to make our Christmas 2023 unforgettable!

One day old

We have three sweet little boys and one princess. We do have availability in this litter so please reach out with a text or fill out an application and we will happily explain to you how our program works and we of course love to FaceTime with our prospective families so you can “meet” us and the puppies. All of our dogs live here at our home so you can see both parents and puppy grandparents. We are so thrilled to share our dog and puppy knowledge with you even if you just have questions regarding a future litter if now is not the right time for you to add a puppy!

Winnie & Swayze have been best friends since the day we brought Swayze into our home. He is an adorably sweet boy who never barks and loves to cuddle up with pillows and kittycats. He doesn’t have a bad bone in his body – we are always in awe of his pure goodness. Swayze baby can oftentimes be found following Winnie’s Dad Alfie around and copying whatever he is doing at the time. It’s very cute. Winnie is an amazing girl who is quite similar to her Mom. She absolutely adores being groomed which is something we do lots of since we keep her in a longer cut. Surprisingly enough her ears and tail are not genetically pink – we keep those brightly colored and she loves the extra attention she gets from them. She loves to go to the mall and she also has never turned down a trip to Starbucks for a pupcup. She is also an amazing emotional support companion for our family.

We look forward to hearing from you if you are interested in more information. If you’re just here to see cute puppies and dogs please follow along. We appreciate you and your support! Xoxo

That’s almost a wrap on 2023

Hey everyone! We stay so busy that it’s sometimes hard to remember to blog a bit and update somewhere other than on the gram! We have had such a fun year with litters and then of course growing and training our pack. We are not quite done with the year yet! We have two litters due this month that will be ready to go home around Valentine’s Day! We are extremely excited because both of these mamas to be were born here at Pasatiempo Ranch! Stay tuned for updates and announcements.

Happy Third Birthday to Eloise & Frances of our Originals Litter

The cooler weather has been so nice for us – it’s allowed much more outdoor time during the day and the dogs just love the fresh air. It’s always a good day when you can play outside with your furry friends.

Sweet Betty Sue with her bestie Bernadette

We hope your 2023 has been fabulous and we look forward to spending another year sharing our pups and following along with you and your family of floofs as well! Xoxo

Expectations vs Reality

New furbaby expectations VS reality….VERY useful advice! 🐾

As puppies head to their new homes I wanted to touch base on a common issue that breeders come across with new owners.

Realistic Expectations

You go to the breeders home. The pups are all social. They are quiet in the pen. The breeder shows you videos of them being totally relaxed. All looks amazing and you bring your puppy home.

Then reality hits. The puppy may cry in the crate for the first few nights making you tired and agitated. The happy social puppy is refusing to greet the half dozen overly excited friends you invited over to see your new puppy. The puppy refuses to walk on a leash. Many are wondering how did my perfect puppy turn into a nightmare.

So let’s discuss realistic expectations of when a puppy goes home. First of all the puppy has been in the breeders home since birth. They had their mother and often littermates. They had their routine, were taught expectations and were completely in their comfort zone.

Now suddenly they are taken to a totally new environment. Picture yourself being dropped into an unknown country, often in a different part of the world. You know only a few words of their language. Different trees, animals, smells, temperature and people. Now in the middle of this we are switching up your routine, decide to have a party with people you dont know, and ask you to do jobs you have no idea about. Overwhelming to say the least.

This is what every puppy goes through when going to their new home. Stress manifests in different forms. From not eating, reluctancy to play and greet people. Being apprehensive at the vet’s office or as strangers reach for them. Diarrhea, vomiting and depression can occur.

So what can you as a new owner do to help your little one acclimate?

– most puppies take 3-4 weeks to acclimate to their new home. Repeat after me THREE to FOUR WEEKS! Not a 1-2 days. I can’t stress this enough about how much time is needed for a dog or puppy to feel comfortable in their new home!

– limit guests during the first week. We understand you are excited to show off your new baby but they need time to adjust. Plan on waiting 1-2 weeks before inviting people over

– ask guest to sit on the ground and let the puppy approach them. No squealing and grabbing the puppy

– set up a good routine

– restrict the puppy to a small area of the house. This not only reduces them being overwhelmed but also allows you to watch them

– don’t expect a new puppy to walk on a leash. Instead work at home with a leash where they are comfortable. Let them drag the leash, use treats to encourage them to walk with you

– if your puppy is refusing to walk give them time. My first trips to town with puppies a walk around a small block took 1 1/2 hours. We only move when they initiate the movement as they need time to take in the different environment

– understand your puppy needs time to see you as family. Expecting an immediate bond is unrealistic

– train your puppy. This not only helps you to bond but the puppy to look to you for direction and input

– lastly be patient. Don’t declare “omg there’s something wrong with this dog”. Nothing occurs overnight. Outings should be planned at puppy speed. So while you might imagine a fun walk around the lake in reality your puppy might only be able to handle walking a short distance that day.

Most outings for me take a long time, as I am often just standing still as the puppy cautiously explores the new environment. Patience is key!

Remember if the puppy was wonderful at the breeder’s house but now is struggling, you as the owner, need to help the puppy adjust which takes time, patience and training. Have realistic expectations and give the puppy positive experiences. Each puppy is an individual, don’t compare your current puppy to past pets and judge their behavior based on how another dog handled things. Lastly, try to see thing’s from a puppy’s perspective and adjust situations accordingly.

Puppies and the People that Love Them

Hey all! We are so excited to touch base again! We’ve been so busy with puppies and dogs and training and cleaning and more cleaning that there just isn’t a lot of time to sit down and put our feelings into words. ALL of the puppies are growing bigger and smarter and more inquisitive each day. This is our first time ever having multiple litters at once and it is a task! Calliope Jane had six goldendoodle puppies which is an amazing well rounded number and very easy to split your attention between! A week later Penelope wanted to show off and gave birth to thirteen sweet Irishdoodle’s. She was and is extremely attentive to them and was just the best at cleaning and caring for so many especially since this was her very first time being a Mama.

Our puppies started going home weeks ago and it’s always bittersweet. Some are still local to us and others traveled across the USA to get to their new homes! It’s always special to meet new families and people and we consider each and every one of our puppy parents to be a part of our extended family. We love keeping up with y’all and seeing the babes as they grow up!

We had a pretty full list of pawrents planning to get a puppy when we bred our girls as we do anything here with complete intentions and every pup pregnancy is always planned here but as it is in life a few people decided to wait for a future litter or decided that it wasn’t a good time to add a puppy after all. That leaves us with lots of babes to train, care for and of course give love. To be completely transparent we really want these pups to go to furever homes sooner rather than later. They have all been vetted, vaccinated, microchipped and are current on heartworm and flea/tick meds. They are each potty trained (thank goodness) and we do daily training but nothing can replace the one on one care and bond they will receive from their forever families. The truth is the longer they are here the more attached and bonded we all become. Find any of us daily in puppy piles or on the floor with multiple puppies asleep in our laps.

Today is the perfect day to contact us if you’re wanting to add a babe to your family. Each of our puppies are temperament tested and we can absolutely help you find one who fits in with your lifestyle and family situation. The most important thing to us is the puppies are placed into loving arms and forever homes.

We are located in South Texas; we are happy to deliver your puppy to you if you are local. If you’d like to meet our puppies through FaceTime we’d love to hear from you! please reach out so we can tell you all about these special pups!

Puppy dogs

Puppy dogs. We do so love them don’t we?! We have a plethora of puppies currently and we really want them to end up in amazing doodle homes. Each babe has a specific personality and trait that makes them special. Our puppies are vet checked, have current vaccines, they are microchipped and they go home with one month of complimentary pet insurance. Our puppy bags consist of a few toys, a blanket, food and vitamin samples. We also offer lifetime support – we are always a text away for your questions.

We are quite motivated to find these cuties homes where they can be the number one (or two) puppy in the home. They deserve individualized attention and love. We do have special pricing for specific needs! If you are a doodle lover please message us thru email or text. You can always call us too!

Our pups are ready to go home now and if you are local we are happy to bring the bundle of fluff right to your front door! If you are not local let’s see if we can find a meeting spot! And if you are out of Texas we have a flight nanny that can bring the puppy straight to your local airport!

Goldendoodles Visit the Vet!

Our Highwaymen Litter of six Goldendoodles are seven weeks and saw our veterinarian today for their first set of shots! Everyone had a clean bill of health and omgooodness y’all – they were so good and well behaved like our puppies always are! They slept the entire ride there and back! We are so proud of them!

These babies will start going to their furever homes this weekend and we do have availability. We really want our puppies to go home to amazing doodle homes – reach out because we want to place our puppies with the best families and we are always happy so work with you to make that happen! If you are not in Texas or local to us we have a plan for that as well!

Our puppies are using grass turf for pottying and sleeping through the night. Crate training has also already begun. They are used to being handled regularly, bathed, brushed and blow dried and used to having their nails clipped. we do car rides and lots of introductions to noises, people and objects so our puppies are developmentally ready to move to their next phase of their lives.

We look forward to helping you choose your next furry family member! Xoxo

Goldendoodle Puppy Update

Our Highwaymen litter turned four weeks today! They have had a busy few days. We extended their puppy living area and started them on turf training for potty learning. They also started on mush which is a mix of goats milk, filtered water, and the puppy kibble that we use for all our pregnant, whelping dogs and puppies. Theres a $5 coupon off your first purchase if you use this link: https://tlcpetfood.com/nutrition/pasatiemporanch We also add in NuVet vitamin powder which they’ve been on since in utero. http://www.nuvet.com/668809 Use our code 668809 for 15% off your order!

We have also slowly been adding in toys to the play area which if you’ve been watching our insta stories you’d have seen they absolutely love! Additionally we added the big floofy anxiety pet beds which the pups always love. Nothing is more comfy than a giant squishy bed – we highly recommend those for pups of all ages and sizes.

We do still have availability for this litter – if there is a specific puppy you have your eye on you’ll want to get on our reservation list before it’s too late! We wont have another F1b Goldendoodle litter until 2024.

We love sharing our puppies and dog knowledge – if you have questions regarding our program reach out anytime! We are here for you. Thank you for visiting our page today. Xoxo
