Decoding the fur
Hey there, doodle lovers! Ever wonder what it means when it comes to Goldendoodles, Aussiedoodles, Saint Berdoodles or any other doodle breed and their coats? 🤔 We are going to break it down in simple terms – no genetics degree required!
Coat Types & What They Mean for You
This is a third generation goldendoodle born here at Pasatiempo Ranch; she is a Multigen with a Goldendoodle Mom and a Poodle Father. You can see her coat is curly.
Curly Coats: Low shedding, standard grooming needs (think poodle-like).
Wavy Coats: Moderate to no shedding depending on generation, moderate grooming.
Straight Coats: More shedding, less grooming (but still need brushing! ).
Want low-shedding? F1B or Multigen might be your jam.
Not sure what coat type your doodle will have? We can help with that!
Our multigenerational doodles are highly desirable not only because of their personalities but because of their non shedding coats which are perfect for allergy sufferers as they tend to be completely non shedding. We can help you to see which puppies from which litters will be more or less curly and which ones will be wavy or soft and silky.
This is also a third generation born here; she is a Merle aussiedoodle with silky loose waves and does not shed
One thing to always remember is that because of a doodles coat they need regular brushing/combing and grooming . We use our grooming time as a bonding technique for our dogs and ourselves. We begin grooming and bathing at a very early stage long before your puppy ever goes to his or her forever home. Cutting their nails, touching their faces regularly and running a blow dryer over their coats is just the beginning of teaching your puppy about how grooming is a positive experience.
Want to learn more about doodle generations or find your perfect doodle? We are here to guide you to find your perfect furry friend ❤️
Here you can see second generation Goldendoodle sisters; one is curly and the other has a wavy coat. Both are non shedding. We have the experience to guide you at a very young stage to determine which coat trait your puppy will have.
Meet the Berenstain Bear litter, Brother and Sister; Sheepadoodle puppies, now three weeks old! Their eyes are open, they’re walking around on all fours, and they’re loving exploring their world. These sweethearts will be ready for their forever homes just before Christmas (or we can hold them post-holidays if needed).
Mama Betty (70lbs) and Papa Swayze (55lbs) have created some stunning pups – expect standard size (on the sturdier side!), big personalities, and lots of love. Betty’s a gentle giant who loves snuggles and sofa time. Swayze’s a pro dad with a track record of amazing, calm puppies who are just perfect for families.

Can you believe it’s almost summer? It already feels like summer this week since we’ve had temps in the 90s. We’ve already gotten out the sprinklers and it won’t be much longer before we set up the dog pool. Everyone has gotten their summer cuts and they are sporting shorter ears that way we keep them nice and dry and don’t have to worry about any wet ears that get agitated.
We have a litter of F1b Saint Berdoodle puppies coming later in the month. They will be big and fabulous just like their parents! Let us know if you have questions and want added to the list!
There are two little pups who are quickly approaching 5 months that are still looking for forever homes! One male and one female. They are second generation Aussiedoodles and are seriously amazing! Both with fantastic personalities and manners. Totally potty trained and vetted and ready for family vacations and long sleepy dog days of summer. We would love for you to meet them so text us or call to set up a play date to see if Hamilton or Verona would be a good addition to your family!
Along the lines of puppies and pets I think it’s a good reminder for everyone who’s considering adding a pup to think over adding a furry family member. Please realize a pup coming from our program is not a short term rental or a trial. That is not fair to any puppy or dog (or any animal). Getting a puppy is not the same thing as buying a shirt on Amazon and deciding you don’t really want it after a few months. Before you make a commitment please consider how your life will change by adding a furbaby. As always we are committed to our dogs and we are always happy to help you navigate challenging times and recommend training programs, vets and trainers who are local to you.
We hope you’re having the best Spring and hope you’ll share pictures of your summer adventures with your Pasatiempo Ranch babes with us! Xoxo
We love the learning and educating others aspect of dogs and raising them. The ins and outs and the ups and downs of everyday life as well as just creating a better dog. Oftentimes we hear specific breeding terms thrown out with no explanation so we wanted to take a bit of time to explain what we are talking about when you hear this term.
Each day we perform ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) exercises during this early developmental phase from days 3-16. The benefits we’ve found while raising our litters over the years include:
*Introduces puppies to mild stresses in a controlled way.
*Improves stress responses in later life.
*Stimulates the neurological system.
*Improves puppies’ growth, immune and cardiovascular systems.
*It helps puppies with their nose awareness and confidence. It enhances their ability to identify and react to scents.
Studies show that there are specific time periods early in life when neurological stimulation has optimum results and we are confident this approach makes for better puppies!
Day 7
We absolutely notice a difference in puppies raised on a program like ours compared to a pup we bring in from an outside program that may not have had the same early interventions. When we first began our journey raising puppies we knew most importantly we wanted to create heart healers and if we also produced service or therapy pups along the way it would just be an added bonus.
We are proud to really know our pups and since we interact with them daily from birth we know their strengths and weaknesses. There’s much to learn about pups by just observing them daily. We’ve been doing this for a bit and feel we are skilled at reading dog body language and watching their behaviors.
Our goal has always been to send home a well adjusted, intelligent and healthy puppy to families where they are forever loved and doted on. We have been fortunate to send home puppies throughout the years that we believe are successful due to the early intervention they receive here at Pasatiempo Ranch along with the amazing and diligent training and love they receive from you when they go to their furever houses.
If you have any questions about Early Neurological Stimulation or Early Scent Introduction please ask us! If you are on your own journey of raising better puppies we encourage you to find a curriculum (or a few) that you can learn from and help to build your own program! Xoxo
Our Highwaymen litter turned four weeks today! They have had a busy few days. We extended their puppy living area and started them on turf training for potty learning. They also started on mush which is a mix of goats milk, filtered water, and the puppy kibble that we use for all our pregnant, whelping dogs and puppies. Theres a $5 coupon off your first purchase if you use this link: https://tlcpetfood.com/nutrition/pasatiemporanch We also add in NuVet vitamin powder which they’ve been on since in utero. http://www.nuvet.com/668809 Use our code 668809 for 15% off your order!
We have also slowly been adding in toys to the play area which if you’ve been watching our insta stories you’d have seen they absolutely love! Additionally we added the big floofy anxiety pet beds which the pups always love. Nothing is more comfy than a giant squishy bed – we highly recommend those for pups of all ages and sizes.
We do still have availability for this litter – if there is a specific puppy you have your eye on you’ll want to get on our reservation list before it’s too late! We wont have another F1b Goldendoodle litter until 2024.
We love sharing our puppies and dog knowledge – if you have questions regarding our program reach out anytime! We are here for you. Thank you for visiting our page today. Xoxo
