Happy birthday Betty Sue! Our F1Sheepadoodle Betty turned 3 last week and we had the cutest party and cake for her. The weather was in agreement so the pups all got to play in the sprinklers to celebrate with her. There’s nothing Betty loves better than water play and kisses. It was the perfect day.

Betty Sue is not your average pup. We’ve never had any of the issues some people say they do with a sheepdog cross. She doesn’t herd and she doesn’t nip. She is protective of her yard and birds or squirrels that might try to enter – the interesting thing about our sheepadoodle is she doesn’t bark to show the nature of what her breed is meant to do; she patrols around what she believes could be a threat and keeps an eagle eye on the surroundings. Nature is simply so fascinating isn’t it?
Since Betty Sue is three and because she’s such a phenomenal dog one might ask why she hasn’t been bred as part of our program yet. The answer to that is first Betty is considered a large breed dog. We wanted her to reach her full growth potential before having her carry a litter. Additionally we want to pair her with Swayze and we’ve been waiting for him to be a little older as well. We are crossing our fingers for a fall litter for Betty Sue and we are accepting reservations on that litter now. These puppies can be a variety of colors such as black and white, brown and white, brown and also black. Because of the pairing we have planned they can be both black and liver based meaning some will have brown noses and light eyes and others will have black noses with darker eyes. They will be F1b which basically alleviates any chance of shedding.

As you can see from our pictures Betty has faded as we originally knew she would into a sprinkle of gray on her black and white coat. She is a gorgeous dog weighing in at 66 pounds of fabulous. Nobody sleeps upside down and takes up half a sofa or gives kisses like her. We look forward to chatting with you about future Sheepadoodles! Xoxo
