It’s with ridiculous excitement that we announce a Calliope Jane x Alfie litter! They turn two weeks old today and could not be more precious. For the first time ever we have four boys in a litter and oh my goodness are they cute! Because of the four we finally are able to take the opportunity to name them after four of the American country music supergroups; Willie, Waylon, Kris & Johnny. Our two girls are named Dolly & June. These six babies are gorgeous and will grow to be standard sized. Their little eyes are just beginning to be open and we cannot wait to share the wonders of the world with them. These next few weeks are crucial to their development and being the key to that puzzle is not something we take lightly.
Highwaymen Litter ~ Two weeks old
These babies are standard sized and their full siblings from last litters typically weigh around 55 pounds. Most of their grown females weigh about 50. Some of these puppies will have a curlier coat while others will have a wavy coat. Each has full face furnishings that we expect from a goldendoodle. These puppies are F1b which means you won’t experience shedding.

We want to share grown puppies from past litters from this combination of Alfie & Calliope Jane so you can get an idea of how your puppy will look when grown!

I just want to start this by saying we aren’t just raising puppies here at Pasatiempo Ranch. It’s 11:30 pm on Wednesday night and I am taking the first shift of Mama & Bebe watch for both our girls Calliope Jane & Penelope. These first few weeks after the babies are born are crucial for both mother/baby bonding but also sibling to sibling bonds. We handle the puppies minimally each day, moving them, shifting them around and guiding them to the milk bar when they need help. We take weights daily and oftentimes numerous times during the day to be sure they are gaining and don’t need human intervention. We begin ENI and ENS on day 3 of their lives. We are raising future family members for you and want them to be well rounded, easy to train and adaptable to your lifestyle but most importantly we want them to be loving so these first days are essential to their development.
Look at these gorgeous babies!
We are overwhelmingly excited to announce our first litter of F1b Irishdoodles! Penelope gave birth on Monday, February 20, 2023. Now I don’t know if you’ve followed along since Penny was a little pup but she’s a bit of an overachiever. She is an amazingly athletic girl who can jump through hoops and climb into the top bunk of the bed; yes that means she could be a firedog since she can climb ladders. There is no puzzle she cannot figure out. She recently started working with the talking buttons you see people using on social media to teach their dogs how to communicate. She’s already excelling. The thing Penelope is best at is loving living things. She has been a darling snuggle bug since the first night we brought her home when she was a few months old. She loves to cuddle on the couch with a human but she also loves cuddling with our cats and other pups. We call her the den mother of our pack because if any of our dogs are grumpy or having a down day she will always feel it in her soul and seek them out with this kind of massage thing only she does. She truly is one of a kind.
Look at that smile! Oh – and those little twins peeking out from their Mama
The babies started coming mid afternoon and by around 10pm we had thirteen little darlings! We have four little boys and nine baby girls. In true “Alfie is the father” form – if you’ve followed our program you’ll know babies from Alfie tend to be female heavy. These babies are an array of cream to red as we knew they would be from their parents’ genetic results. They are standard size and will be non shedding as they are F1b meaning their mother is an F1 Irishdoodle (Standard Poodle crossed with an Irish Setter) and their father is a Standard Poodle.
Our Moms are a priority here at Pasatiempo Ranch. You have to take a trip to the supermarket with us soon! We make tons of yummy food for our pregnant and nursing mothers in order to be sure they are thriving and in turn their puppies are healthy and growing. Fresh water is imperative because hydration is key but we also offer goats milk to our girls because it’s so high in fat and calories. Our mother dogs eat a high nutrient kibble which is always available to them as well as their daily vitamins. We feed high protein canned dog food as well as fresh food we prepare ourselves. We want our Mama dogs to eat as many calories as possible at this crucial time of development. You cannot overfeed a nursing dog! Our kitchen staff (us) are consistently making special puddings, raw meals and lots of different types of eggs to be certain they get the nutrition they need to thrive. Some Mama dogs can be super picky during this hormonal time so we do and try everything to make sure they eat enough even by spoon & hand feeding throughout the days and nights. We also do daily well checks on our Moms checking for signs of discomfort or issues and making sure they are getting the calcium they need along with massages and outdoor time with their designated best friends from our pack.

We are accepting reservations on this litter now. This litter has an appointment for their first set of vaccines on April 11th and will be microchipped prior to going to their furever home. We do puppy selections at 6 weeks and the go home date will begin the weekend of April 15th. We have a local flight nanny who flies our puppies in cabin to their destinations and we will also meet you halfway if you live within a certain mileage from us. We are always happy to deliver your puppy to your front door if you live locally or even semi locally! If you are ready for a puppy feel free to reach out to us about adding one of these sweet babies to your family.

We hope your early 2023 weather hasn’t been too much of a challenge. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about adding a puppy to your household! Xoxo
Can you believe we are almost through the first month of 2023?! It’s 4:30 am and I’m writing a quick blogpost because I want to share some of the things we are doing currently in our home and as part of our program that are improving both our lives and the lives of our pets!
We have been extremely lucky this month with our weather which has allowed for a lot of outdoor playtime and training sessions. Personally I (Jenny) prefer quiet indoor sessions with the pups – typically individually but I do recognize that outside distractions are important while training also. We like to do daily training with the pack and each of us do things a bit differently which is good for working a dogs brain because change is tiring and a tired dog is a good dog. Because we have such a plethora of different personalities we do like to mix and match pups so that they learn to work in favor of their differences versus against them. For instance Bernadette our Saint is very good with commands because she is extremely treat and food motivated. I like to pair training with her with one of our more rambunctious (younger) doodles because peer pressure is where it’s at and once they see her get a consistent reward they will copy her technique so that they also get that reward.

When people say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks that just simply isn’t true. Our oldest pup in the pack is always ready to learn and he has recently begun some new things like running on a leash – he has never cared for exercise but we think the other pups have motivated him to get up and get going – much like humans do in support style gyms. Again – we find peer pressure is really amazing for dogs.
Winnie – A Groomers Delight
This also works for things like grooming . Winnie is one of our goldendoodles who absolutely loves to be brushed and groomed. She would sit all day and let you comb and brush her out. By having a few others in the grooming area with her who are either very young or who don’t think grooming is a treat they see her and want to emulate her good behavior because they realize there are really high value treats to sitting on the grooming table for an extended period. High value here means licking peanut butter off a wooden spatula or fresh chicken bites that they wouldn’t ordinarily have.
If you have one dog who isn’t too motivated to do new things maybe we can help you with that?! There is always value in a friend for your pup and it might be a good time to add to your pack? We are expecting two litters for Valentine’s Day and these puppies will be spectacular little teddy bears. If you do not currently have a dog or you’ve never had one reach out to us and let us walk you through he steps of being a dog owner. There’s never been a better time to have a four legged friend! There are so many dog friendly stores and restaurants and dogs are the greatest motivator to get out and take walks and enjoy the sunshine and even rain. So many of our pawrents have made new human friends at the park and at pet establishments these past few years – common interests of the love of an animal is a great way to meet others. Plus we don’t want to leave out the most important part of a pup – all the snuggles and a non judgmental pal!
Frances & Ophelia are half sisters. They are a great pairing to train with any energetic pup because both are so laidback and easygoing! They also both like to wear clothes and bows.
We hope you enjoy your weekend. Thank you for stopping by Pasatiempo Ranch today! Xoxo
